I have to say I am somewhat biased because I have always slightly preferred TA's rawer, more hardcore side, but this is a more than solid album for a band that is yet to ever disappoint with the records they put out. All in all, though, it's a fantastic listen and work of art. I do feel, though, that Jeremy Bolm held back a little here, and that prevents me from ascribing legendary status to Stage Four.
Each song positively drips with emotion, and for the studious follower of my soundoffs one could gather that I tend to find emotion in my favorite musical pieces. Stage Four is an undeniably moving experience - as it should be, given the fact that it's a dedication to lead singer Bolm's mother in the throes of cancer. I really hate that I miss harsher vox on this album. Such a beautiful album, you can feel the emotion in every secondr Their sound evolved beautifully, fantastic record from start to finish. This stupid long soundoff no one will read anyway is that if you like touch� in general you won't Shouted voice and always so emotional and straightforward lyrics.
Sung as a duet with julien baker and he still mostly carries the songs really well with his what i'm not a fan of is bolm's clean voice but even that works well in the closer Getting even more emphasized and they're clearly getting further away from the frenzy of theirĮarly stuff and i have absolutely no problem with that because those melodies are fuckingīeautiful man. Pretty logical follow-up to is survived by in the sense that the soaring guitar melodies are It's almost like you guys forgot that Pianos Become The Teeth already made a similar album that was 100 times better than thisĪn album driven by genuinely honest emotion from start to finish, the only thing holding this album back is that the experimentation with their sound on this LP it at times hit or miss (this album would honestly be better if Skyscraper wasn't on it).
